Remove main shaft and countershaft with shift unit.

Disassemble

Remove bearing (5).

 Unscrew hexagon socket from  counter stay.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Except code ZG1 (All-wheel drive, engageable) and except code ZG3 (Engageable all-wheel drive with transmission ratio)

Remove lock washers (8).

 To do this, remove bolts (9) .

Remove bearing (7).

Remove reverse idler axle (14) and reverse idler gear (12).

 Puller, 28-37 mm dia.

Remove guide pin (18) and washers (17).

 To do so, remove screw plug (19).

Remove sleeve (16) using a suitable tool.

Remove position sensor for transmission neutral position (20).

 Unscrew bolt (2) to do this.



Clean

Clean seats and bearing seats.

 Use a clean and lint-free rag.

 Replace bolt (2).

 Coat sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (1) with transmission oil.

Press in new bearing (7) as far as end stop.

 The chamfer on the outer bearing race must point toward the main shaft.

Install lock washers (8).

 Replace bolts (9).

Install reverse idler axle (14) and reverse idler gear (12).

 Mounting bolt, reverse idler shaft to transmission housing

Install sleeve (16).

Install guide pin (18) with washers (17).

 Replace screw plug (19).

 Check washers (17) for damage.
