Remove/install

Disconnect ground cable from battery

Depressurize hydraulic system by moving the lever on the service valve

Switch off the system electrically by repositioning the coding plug and relieve the hydraulic pressure by opening the pressure relief screw on the valve controller unit

Remove engine support (19) with engine mount

 Support transmission beforehand

Remove exhaust bracket (10) and U-bracket (11)

 Replace self-locking nut (7)

Remove shields (5, 30, 31)

Unscrew front propeller shaft (71) of rear axle

 Replace self-locking nut (6)

Drain oil from transfer case



Detach pressure oil lines (AV, ZS) from transfer case

 Seal openings using blind plugs

Support transmission with transfer case



Unscrew front propeller shaft (70) from transfer case

 Replace self-locking screws (70a) and nuts (70b)

Unhook exhaust system (60) at the rear hanger

 Detach using a V-belt

Unscrew speedometer shaft (69) and/or inductive sensor (85a)

Disconnect line connection (arrow) for clutch actuation

Remove clip catches (32)and unhook shift rods

15

Unscrew ground strap (27) from transmission

Remove transmission from engine block

 Remove transmission downwards at an incline

Check pressure bearing (3), clutch release fork (4) and grooved ball bearing of crankshaft

18

Install in the reverse sequence

Fill transfer case with oil

 Correct oil level=bottom edge of filler opening

Inspect transmission oil level

 Correct oil level=bottom edge of filler opening

 Danger!

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.
