Danger! | Risk of accident due to the involuntary movement when the engine is operating. Risk of injury caused by smashing and burns due to contact during the start-up process or with the operating engine | Make sure that the vehicle will not accidentally move. Wear work clothes well closed and tight. Do not touch the heated or moving parts. | |
1 | Turn off the main switch or disconnect the negative cable. | Unscrew the bolt from the longitudinal member cable, avoiding to unfasten them at the terminals. | |
2 | Tilt the engine hood. | ||
3 | Remove radiator. | In the engines that have after-cooler, remove it together with the radiator. | |
4 | Unfasten the bolts from the supports (9, 10, 11 and 12) and remove the frame ring (6). | Valid only for six (6) cylinder engines (OM 447). | |
Install: Install the frame ring in such a manner that it stays centered in the fan. | |||
Fastening of the support at the right side of the block (close to the radiator's support) (12). | |||

Fastening of the upper support to the thermostatic valve (9). | |||

Fastening of the lower support to the crankcase (11). | |||
| |||
Fastening of the support at the left side of the block (10). | |||

5 | Remove the belts. | ||
6 | Unscrew the fastening bolts (5) and remove the cover that closes the hub's cavity (4). | | |
7 | Unscrew the fastening bolt (1). | | |
8 | Remove the fan (2). | Clean the fan taking care not to remove the balance counter weights installed in its inner fins. | |
Install: Check if there is interference between the fan and the anti-vibration device side. | |||
Check for eventual cracks the blades or body. Twisted or deformed blades can not be straightened. In this case, replace the fan. | |||
Whenever the fan is removed (2), remove also the anti-vibration hub (7). | |||
9 | Remove the anti-vibrator hub (7). | ||
Install: During the installation actuate the engine and check the oscillation at the hub (7) and fan (2). | |||
