Remove/install connection piece of coolant pump to cylinder head

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install connection piece of coolant pump to cylinder head

1 Take off coolant hose (2) at coolant manifold (1).

Installation: Replace sealing rings.

2 Loosen coolant hoses (3) and push back onto the coolant lines (4).

3 Disconnect control line (5) from electropneumatic pressure converter (EPW) (Y87) to turbocharger at connector hose.

4 Take off coolant hose (6) at connection piece (10).

5 Disconnect electrical connector of engine wiring harness (7) from coolant temperature sensor (B65).

6 Detach engine wiring harness (7) at control line (5).

7 Disconnect line (5) to the turbocharger at connector hose and remove.

8 Remove bolts (8) and remove crankcase breather line (9).

Installation: Tighten bolts (8).

9 Pull connecting piece (10) together with coolant manifold (1) upwards and out of connection fitting (11).

Installation: Replace the seal in connecting piece (10).

10 Pull connection fitting (11) out of the coolant pump.

Installation: Replace connector fitting (11).

11 Install in the reverse order.
