Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Drain coolant at radiator

Remove front engine cover

Pull the front engine cover upward and out of the mountings.

Remove oil filter element from oil filter housing (5)

To empty the oil filter housing (5).

Replace oil filter element, drain oil filter

Remove poly-V-belt and poly-V-belt tensioning device (3)

Remove guide pulley (4) for poly-V-belt

Detach top coolant hose (1) from coolant thermostat housing (2) and place it on the side

Installation: Install new O-ring.

Remove hose (7) from electrical air pump (M33) and air shutoff valve (8)

Remove coolant hoses (6a), unscrew bolts (6b) and remove coolant pipe (6)

Remove coolant thermostat housing (2)

Remove bolts (5a)

Installation: Observe bolt order and tightening torques:

See bolt plan for oil filter housing

Remove oil filter housing (5)

Catch dripping engine oil in a pan.

Replace seal (5b)

Install in the reverse order

Checking

Check engine oil level, correct if necessary.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
