 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition.

Carefully screw open cap on coolant expansion reservoir, relieve overpressure, and tighten cap again.

 See information from vehicle manufacturer or engine manufacturer.

Disconnect electrical connection (2).

Remove coolant temperature sensor (1) at connection piece (3) and collect escaping coolant.

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.

Seal bore at connection piece (3) with a suitable stop plug.

If coolant temperature sensor (1) is not to be reinstalled immediately.

Install in the reverse order



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check coolant level and correct.



Start engine and check coolant temperature sensor (1) for leaks when the engine is running.

Switch off engine.

Check coolant level again, correct if necessary.


