2 | Check charging voltage of alternator (5) | ||
3 | Attach multimeter (1) with DC clip-on probe (2) according to connecting scheme at electrical line of alternator (5) | ||
4 | Attach load tester (3) according to connection scheme at on-board electrical system battery (4) | ||

5 | Start engine | ||
6 | Check charging current of alternator (5) | Check charging current at higher engine rpms, whereby on-board electrical system battery (4) is loaded with load tester (3). Change load resistance until maximum charging current, depending on version of alternator (5), is reached. In doing so the charging voltage must not fall below 12.7 V. | |
