Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Remove right front wheel.

Remove right front fender liner.

 Installation: Install front right fender liner only after the engine test run.

Remove electric line (2) from starter (1).

 To do this, press the cover to the side somewhat and unscrew nut (3).

Lift cover of the nut (5) and push back onto the electric line (4).

Remove electric line (4) from starter (1).

 To do this, unscrew nuts (5).

Remove screw/bolts (6).

 Bolt, starter to crankcase

Remove starter (1).



Check

Check ring gear at flywheel for damage and wear.

 Turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation.

Depending on the findings,



replace damaged flywheel.

Check starter drive pinion for damage and wear.

Depending on the findings,



Replace starter (1).

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
