Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Remove ground line of battery.

Remove air filter housing.

Release electrical connector(1) and disconnect.

Remove nut (2) and remove circuit 30 electric line from starter (M1).

 Nut, connection for circuit 30

Remove screw/bolts (3).

 Bolt, starter to major assembly carrier/crankcase

Remove starter (M1).

Check pinion of the starter (M1) for wear and damage.

If there are problems,



Replace starter (M1).

Remove lower engine compartment lining

If there are problems present on the pinion of the starter (M1).

Remove front section of the fender liner on the left.

If there are problems present on the pinion of the starter (M1).

Check starter ring gear on the flywheel/driver plate for wear and damage.

 Aid of helper required.

 To do this, turn crankshaft in steps only in the direction of engine rotation.

If there are problems,

Replace flywheel/drive plate.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check starter (M1) for proper operation.
