Danger!

Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Unscrew nuts (3) and take off washers (4)

Push starter (M1) up at the rear and take it out of the recess at the timing case

Detach starter cables (2) and control cable (1) at the solenoid switch of the starter (M1)

Turn starter (M1) until the cables (1, 2) are accessible.
Installation: Before installing starter (M1), fit on cables (1, 2).

Take starter (M1) down and out

Checking

Inspect starter (M1) and ring gear of flywheel for wear

Inspect starter pinion for wear, if necessary

Replace starter (M1).

Inspect ring gear of flywheel for wear, if necessary

Replace ring gear of flywheel

Installation: Lightly grease starter pinion and ring gear of flywheel.
