1 | Remove the starter from the vehicle engine |

In order to avoid damaging material, do not attempt to uninstall the actuator shaft and clutch unit (C) | |||
2 | Dismount the starter |

3 | Remove the bolts (36) from the actuator housing (37) | .Actuator housing screws (36 and 37) | |
4 | Remove the screw, nut and washer from the shift lever (21, 22 and 23) | .Shift lever screw and nut (21 and 23) | |
5 | Remove the armature holder | By removing the armature, the washers (30, 31 and 32) may be attached to the armature support (16) or the actuator group (C). In both cases, observe the position and quantity of the washers. | |
6 | Remove plug (27) and plate (26) from actuator housing (18) | ||
7 | Remove from actuator housing (18) the actuator group (C) and shift lever (11) | The actuator group (C) and shift lever (11) must be removed simultaneously and then separated. | |
Lubricate the rear housing bushing (6), center hole and travel surface of the shift lever (11). | |||

8 | Check actuator housing bushing (6) (18) for wear, if necessary replace bushing | Insert the new bushing through the inner side of the actuator housing (arrow), machine the bushing with reamer as indicated. If the cutting tool is not sharp it may clog the bushing pores and void its self-lubricating function. | |
