Remove

Remove air intake hose from air filter housing and throttle valve actuator

 Do not remove air intake hose completely.

Loosen the poly-V belt (1)


Do not turn at screw/bolt (3).
Otherwise, tensioning device (2) can be damaged.

 To do this, turn tensioning device (2) clockwise using hexagon (6) (arrow).

Lock tensioning device (2)



Pin for locking poly-V belt tensioning device

 To do this, align holes (4), insert pin in both holes, and thus lock tensioning device (2).

Remove the poly-V belt (1)



Check

Check poly-V belt (1) for wear and damage

Check profiles of belt pulleys for damage

Depending on findings



Replace affected belt pulleys.



Install

Install poly-V belt (1)

Make sure poly-V belt (1) is seated correctly on belt pulleys, tensioner pulley and guide pulley.
This prevents damage.


Belt pulleys, tensioner pulley and guide pulley must be clean and free of grease.
This prevents damage and malfunctions.


Do not use belt wax or similar products.
This avoids malfunctions.

 Observe routing diagram of poly-V belt (1).

Tension poly-V belt (1)

 To do this, turn tensioning device (2) clockwise (arrow), and remove pin (5).

Position poly-V belt (1)


Do not crank engine in opposite direction of engine rotation.
Damage may occur otherwise.

 To do this rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt.



Check

Check seat of poly-V belt (1) on belt pulleys, tensioner pulley and guide pulley

 Visual inspection only.
With new poly-V belt (1), notch (A) on tensioning device (2) must be located in adjustment range (C).
With used poly-V belt (1), notch (A) on tensioning device (2) must be located in adjustment range (B).

If poly-V belt (1) is not seated or tensioned correctly



Check whether appropriate poly-V belt (1) has been installed, and replace if necessary or replace tensioning device (2).
