Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove front bumper

Loosen front bumper in the lower area on the fender liners

 To do this remove expansion clip on the left and right.

Remove air inlet grille below

Only with model 639.8 with code (XZ1) Model generation 1

Take off bottom engine compartment panel at front

Only on model 636,

Remove charge air hoses (1)

 Oil traces and low oil quantities in the charge air hoses (1) coming from the crankcase ventilation are permissible.

 Installation: Observe installation position of clamps (5). Check clamps (5), replace if necessary.

Unscrew bolts (2) from charge air cooler (4) on right and left

 If applicable, slightly press side cooler covers to side.

Remove charge air cooler (4) downward.

 For this purpose pull brackets (3) out toward front on right and left and unhook from charge air cooler (4).

Install in the reverse order



Checking

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
