 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain coolant of the low-temperature circuit

Remove air filter housing on the left or right

Detach charge air hose (1) on the left or the right at charge air cooler (2)

Check charge air hose (1) and hose clamps for damage

If damage is present



Replace corresponding component.

Clean and degrease inside of charge air hose (1) as well as its connection fitting on charge air cooler (2)

Assembly cleaner

Detach charge air line (3) on charge air cooler (2) of left or right

Check charge air line (3) and hose clamps for damage

If damage is present



Replace corresponding component.

Clean and degrease charge air line (3) inside as well the connection fitting on charge air cooler (2)

Assembly cleaner

Disconnect coolant hoses at the supports (9a) of the right charge air cooler (2)

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

Check coolant hoses on the fittings (9) and check hose clamps for damage

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

If damage is present



Replace corresponding component.

Detach coolant hoses at the supports (11a) of the left charge air cooler (2)

Only for removal of the left charge air cooler (2).

Check coolant hoses on the fittings (11) and check hose clamps for damage

Only for removal of the left charge air cooler (2).

If damage is present



Replace corresponding component.

Remove vacuum line (4) from charge air cooler (2)

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

 Installation: Replace cable tie.

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

Detach air line (6) on charge air cooler (2)

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

Unclip electrical connection (7) onto charge air cooler (2) on left or right

17

Remove screws/bolts (8)

Only for removal of the right charge air cooler (2).

 Screw/bolt, charge air cooler to cylinder head cover

Remove screw/bolts (10)

Only for removal of the left charge air cooler (2).

 Screw/bolt, charge air cooler to cylinder head cover

Remove charge air cooler (2) on the left or right

20

Install in the reverse order

 Charge air pipe/charge air cooling
