Remove/install

Remove front power electronics bracket.

Open air intake pipe clamp (12) on the air filter housing.

 Screw, air intake pipe clamp to air filter housing

Remove air intake pipe (12) from the air filter housing and seal openings with protective covers.

Release and disconnect lines (2) and place to one side.

 Installation: Ensure fitting (3) is correctly seated.

Remove screws (4).

 Bolt, air intake pipe to holder/exhaust gas turbocharger

Lift air intake pipe (12) until the line (5) under the resonance body (6) can be unclipped.

Unclip line (5) under the resonance body (6).

Release and disconnect electrical connector from the pressure sensor downstream of the air filter (B28/11).

Open clamp (1) and remove air intake pipe (12) upward with the resonance body (6).

 Installation: Observe the installation position of clamp (1).

Seal opening in the flange (15) with the protective cover.

Unclip electrical wiring harness (8) from the flange (15).


Do not crush electrical wiring harness (8) or subject it to tension.
Otherwise it will be damaged.

Release and disconnect purge line at connector coupling (10) from bracket (13).

Unclip electric line (14) from the bracket (13).


Do not crush electrical wiring harness (14) or subject it to tension.
Otherwise it will be damaged.

Remove screws (11).

 Bolt, holder intake manifold to intake module

Remove screws (9).

 Bolt, air intake pipe to holder/exhaust gas turbocharger

Remove line (5) with the bracket (13) from the intake module.

 Installation: Replace O-rings.

Seal openings in the intake module with suitable stop plugs.

 Record plug

Remove flange (15) with connected line (5) from the exhaust gas turbocharger and remove upward with the bracket (13).

 Installation: Replace seal.

Seal opening in the exhaust gas turbocharger with the stop plug.

Remove pressure sensor downstream of the air filter (B28/11) from the flange (15).

When installing a new engine air intake duct downstream of the air filter.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
