1 Unclip and disassemble cover (2) on fuel filler neck.
2 Release and detach left fuel return line (1) on fuel fill level sensor.
Collect escaping fuel.
3 Plug transparent fuel line (3) into the connector for the fuel return line (1) and lead the end of the transparent fuel line (3) into a suitable measuring container (4).
The measuring container (4) should have a capacity of at least 6 l and be calibrated.
4 Perform measurement by starting the start the engine and allowing it to run; catch fuel in the measuring container (4).
Stop engine which was at an idle speed of 600 to 650 rpm after 1 minute or one which was at the maximum governed rpm of 2500 rpm after 30 s.
Slight gas cavities in the returning fuel is normal.
5 Read off the fuel quantity on the scale on the measuring container (4) or make a volumetric measurement.
6 Remove transparent fuel line (3).
7 Replace O-ring on the fuel fill level sensor fitting and attach fuel return line (1).
8 Attach cover (2) on fuel filler neck.
