2 | Inspect valve guides for wear | - Visual inspection: The valve guides must not reveal any surface damage. - Inspect inner diameter (B) of valve guide. It must not be possible to insert the side of the plug gage marked with '+' into the valve guide. | |

4 | Measure bore of valve guide (A) in cylinder head and outer diameter of new valve guide (A) | Inspection and machining dimensions of valve guides | |

If one of the two dimensions differs from the specifications, the bore in the cylinder head and the outer diameter of the relevant new valve guide must be machined to the next oversize. | |||
| Installing | ||
5 | Insert valve guide into supercooling box | - Fill supercooling box with liquid nitrogen. - Supercool valve guide for about 20 to - Avoid contact with the liquid nitrogen or the supercooled valve guide. | |

6 | Use drift and spacer bush to press in new valve guide | From combustion side. Pay attention to distance (D) from top edge of valve guide to contact surface of valve springs. | |

After installing the valve guide, the following must be machined: | |||
- bore of valve guide | |||
Valve guide inner diameter machining dimension (inner (B)) | |||
- and the valve seat rings. | |||
