Remove cylinder head (1).

Remove valve clearance compensating elements.

Attach cylinder head (1) to assembly device (01).


Before commissioning the  assembly device (01), check that the counterholders (02) are attached correctly to the cylinder head (1).
There is otherwise the danger that the cylinder head (1) will be pressed upwards out of the  assembly device (01) and the cylinder head (1) with valves (6) in the combustion chamber will be damaged.

 Follow the operating instructions for the  assembly device manufacturer (01).

Attach assembly lever(03) with depressor(04) from sliding piece(05).

  Position depressor (04) vertically at upper valve spring retainer (2) and align to sliding piece (05).

Move air bellows of the assembly device (01) with the lever (06).


Ensure that air bellows for  assembly device (01) always correctly stands opposite a combustion chamber and is pushed in the middle.
The air bellows can be pushed out of the side of the combustion chamber otherwise and this leads to damage to the valves (6).

 Move air bellows for the  assembly device (01) with the respective lever (06) in such a way that they are matched to the combustion chamber of the respective valves (6).

 Follow the operating instructions for the  assembly device manufacturer (01).

Connect compressed air to assembly device(01) and open compressed air valve.

 The  assembly device (01) air bellows presses against the valve disks in the combustion chamber.

 Follow the operating instructions for the  assembly device manufacturer (01).

Remove top valve spring retainer (2) and valve spring (3).

 Installation: Before installing the top valve spring retainers (2) and valve springs (3), install new valve stem seals (5).

Close compressed air valve of the assembly device (01).

 Then close off the compressed air to the assembly device  (01).

Remove the valves(6).

 To do this, remove cylinder head (1) from the  assembly device (01).



Check top valve spring retainers (2) and bottom valve spring retainers (7).

 Installation: Check upper valve spring retainers (2) and lower valve spring retainers (7) for score marks, cracks and pitting; replace if necessary.

Check valve stems.

 Check surface of valve stems for roughness and ridging (visual inspection or with nail).

 Installation: Replace valves (6) with a rough stem surface or formation of burrs.

Install in the reverse order.
