Remove/install

Detach ground line from battery

Remove drive belt covers

Remove poly-V belt

Turn engine on belt pulley/vibration damper in direction of engine rotation until the bore in camshaft sprocket is standing opposite to the bore in cylinder head (01)

Remove cover screw (3) on crankcase (02)

 Cover bolt to cylinder crankcase

Screw drift (99) into crankcase (02)

Detach right engine support on cylinder head (01)

 Bolt, engine support to cylinder head

Rotate engine at belt pulley/vibration damper in direction of engine rotation until the crankshaft touches the drift (99)

 Turn engine slowly without jerky motions.

Insert retaining lock into the starter ring gear and block crankshaft

Block camshaft in the basic position with a lock pin (98)

 The basic position of the camshafts is reached when the  lock pin (98) can be inserted into the bore in the camshaft sprocket and in the cylinder head (01) without any great effort.

Install in the reverse order



 Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform an engine test run and check engine for functionality
