Remove/install

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).

Remove upper engine cover.



 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Release electrical connector(1) and disconnect.

Remove screws (2).

 Bolt, lift solenoid to cylinder head cover

Remove exhaust CAMTRONIC actuator for cylinders 2 and 3 (Y49/26).

 Installation: Replace seal.

Seal openings with suitable stop plug.

 Record plug

Check that the pins of the CAMTRONIC actuator for exhaust cylinders 2 and 3 (Y49/26) are retracted.

 Installation:
Do not pull out pins of CAMTRONIC actuator for exhaust cylinders 2 and 3 (Y49/26).
Otherwise, malfunctions and engine damage will occur.

If there is a problem:



Replace CAMTRONIC actuator for exhaust cylinders 2 and 3 (Y49/26).

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.

Install upper engine cover.
