 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove

1

Remove the camshaft positioner for the intake camshaft.

Remove the chain tensioner.

Remove screw (1).

Remove the gear (2) with the journal from the cylinder head and remove the timing chain (3) from the gear (2).

 Take measures to prevent the timing chain (3) from falling into the timing case.

Remove the journal from the gear (2).



Check

Inspect the gear (2) and journal for scoring and galling and, if necessary, replace the relevant component.



Install

Wet the inner contact surface of the gear (2) with engine oil.



Install the journal in the gear (2).

Position the timing chain (3) on the gear (2) and attach the gear (2) with the journal to the cylinder head.

Tighten the screw (1) slightly by hand.

Tighten screw (1).

Install the chain tensioner.
