Installing rear crankshaft radial sealing ring

 Danger

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Deburr edge of the mounting hole (total circumference) for the radial shaft sealing ring (1) with a suitable tool and clean mounting hole.

 The circumference and the sealing lip (1d) of the crankshaft radial shaft sealing ring (1) and the contact surface on the crankshaft (5) must be grease and oil-free.

 Screw base plate (2) onto crankshaft (5).

Push radial shaft sealing ring (1) carefully over the  base plate (2) and crankshaft flange.

 Do not damage sealing lip (1d) or apply pressure.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

 The sealing lip (1d) and protective lip (1s) of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) must lie correctly over the entire circumference of the base plate (2).

If the radial shaft sealing ring (1) is not seated correctly,



Reattach radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Put on the assembly sleeve (3) of the  insertion tool.

Screw on nut (4) until the insertion sleeve (3) lies on the crankcase (6).

 Remove insertion tool.

 Remove base plate (2).

Carefully lift protective lip (1s) and check the correct installation position of sealing lip (1d).

 The sealing lip (1d) must point in the direction of the crankcase (6) over the total circumference.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

If the sealing lip (1d) is not seated correctly,



replace radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Check for correct installation position of the protective lip (1s).

 The protective lip (1s) must point in the direction of the transmission over the total circumference.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

If the protective lip (1s) is not seated correctly,



Carefully correct seating of the protective lip (1s).
