The radial shaft sealing ring (6) is vulcanized into the end cover (5) and can only, therefore, be replaced together with the end cover (5). After removal, do not reuse end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6).
The radial shaft sealing ring (6) has both a sealing lip and a protective lip. The sealing lip, protective lip and contact surface on the crankshaft flange must not be oiled for assembly!
1 | Clean and degrease crankcase (3) and oil pan (4) in the area of the applied sealant as well as contact surface on the crankshaft flange. |
P03.20-2342-06
2 | Clean sealing surface of the new end cover (5) using the Cleaner from the package and Loctite 7200. |
3 | Apply sealant in the form of a bead with a height and width of 2.0 mm (0.5) mm to crankcase (3) and oil pan (4). |
Use exclusively approved sealants. Do not spread bead. Mount end cover (5) within 5 minutes after applying sealant. |
P03.20-2344-06
4 | Mount end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) on insertion tool (02). |
Make sure that the protective lip faces in the direction of the transmission housing and the sealing lip faces in the direction of the crankcase (3). |
The radial shaft sealing ring (6) can only be mounted on the insertion tool (02), if insertion tool (02) is fitted together with insertion tool (01). |
P03.20-2345-01
5 | Detach insertion tool (01) from insertion tool (02). |
6 | Mount end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) and insertion tool (02) onto contact surface (7a) on crankshaft flange (7). |
The contact surface (7a) must not be removed with coarse abrasive cloth. |
P03.20-2346-01
7 | Tighten screw/bolts (5a) gradually via the cross . |
8 | Detach insertion tool (02) from crankshaft flange (7). |
9 | Raise protective lip carefully and check for correct installation position of the sealing lip. |
A wrong installation position leads to leakage. |
The sealing lip must point towards the cylinder crankcase (3) all around its circumference. |
10 | Check for correct installation position of the protective lip. |
The protective lip must point over the whole circumference to the transmission housing. An incorrect installation position leads to premature wear of the radial shaft sealing ring (6). |
