| Removing, installing | ||
1 | Remove engine | Attach engine to a suitable repair stand so that the timing case is exposed | |
2 | Remove flywheel | ||
3 | Remove injection pump | ||
4 | Remove starter | Unscrew nut at crankcase for this step and push starter away from crankcase | |

5 | Slacken outer bolts attaching timing case (1) and remove | | |

6 | Slacken inner bolts attaching timing case (1) and remove | | |
| |||
7 | Use and assembly lever (2) to press timing case off the two straightpins and take off gasket | Installation: Fit gasket onto crankcase; insert timing case into straightpins. - Fix gasket in position at crankcase with grease to facilitate installation. - Use plastic-headed hammer to knock in timing case. | |
8 | Unscrew thrust washer of camshaft at timing case | Installation: First of all coat threads of hexagon bolts with "Omnivit" activator and then with "Loctite 640" | |

9 | Install in the reverse order | Before installing, clean all parts and inspect for wear |
