Clean sealing surface on new end cover (11)


Do not touch radial shaft sealing ring.
The sealing lip will be permanently deformed otherwise and can lead to leakage.

 The new end cover (11) includes the preassembled installation tool (12).

Install

Apply sealant to the new end cover (11)

 Apply a sealant bead (A) with a 3 mm dia. ( 1 mm) and apply in the transition areas crankcase to oil pan (B) using a 5 mm dia. ( 2 mm).

Install end cover (11)

 Align end cover (11) to the bores in the crankcase and oil pan.

Remove installatiion tool (12)


Press end cover (11) in the precess onto the crankcase and oil pan. The radial shaft sealing ring seat must not be altered afterwards.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Screw in screw/bolts (1 to 10)

 Do not tighten screws/bolts (1 to 10) yet.

Tighten screw/bolts (1 to 10) according to the numerical sequence.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
