Remove

1

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)

Remove right upper engine air intake duct

Remove right lower engine air intake duct

Unclip vacuum line (5) at coolant line (6)

Remove screw/bolt an bracket (2s) for coolant line (6)

Pull coolant line (6) to the front and fix in place with the cable tie

Remove screw/bolt (3s) at bracket for guide tube

Pull guide tube to the front and fix with a cable tie

Release and disconnect electrical connections at camshaft solenoids (Y49/5, Y49/7)

Unclip electric line (4) at front cover (1r)

Detach camshaft solenoids (Y49/5, Y49/7) from front cover (1l)

When replacing the front cover (1r).

Remove screw/bolts (1s) on front cover (1)

Carefully loosen front cover (1l) at prying lugs and detach to the front

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head, on cylinder head cover and on front cover (1r)

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surface will be damaged otherwise.

Install

Apply sealant to front cover (1r)

Carefully apply front cover (1) on cylinder head

Screw in screw/bolts (1s) on front cover (1)

 Replace screw/bolts (1s) with new ones.

Attach camshaft solenoids (Y49/5, Y49/7) to front cover (1l)

When replacing the front cover (1r).

 Replace screw/bolts.

Clip in electrical line (4) on front cover (1r)

Connect electrical connectors of camshaft adjustment solenoids (Y49/5, Y49/7)

Bring guide tube into position

Screw in screw/bolt (3s) at bracket for guide tube

Loosen cable tie and bring coolant line (6) into position

Screw in screw/bolt an bracket (2s) for coolant line (6)

Clip in vacuum line (5) on coolant line (6)

Install right upper engine air intake duct
