Remove/install

Remove both upper charge air lines

Detach ABC hydraulic line (2) from cylinder head cover and from left front cover (1l)

Detach oil filter housing cover (3)

For removal of the camshaft solenoids (Y49/4, Y49/6) on the left cylinder head

Disconnect electrical connection from the respective solenoid (Y49/4, Y49/5, Y49/6, Y49/7)

Remove screw/bolts (10) and take out the respective solenoid (Y49/4, Y49/5, Y49/6, Y49/7) from the front cover (1l, 1r)

 Installation: Tighten to indicated torque using an insert box wrench Hazet 6609 c-E8.

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (10) and sealing ring of the camshaft solenoid (Y49/4, Y49/5, Y49/6, Y49/7).

 Bolt, camshaft solenoid to front cover on the cylinder head

Install in the reverse order

Check engine oil level; correct if necessary



Read out fault memory using the diagnostic system and clear if necessary



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
