Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Open the engine access cover

Access to perform the maintenance and repairs varies according to the bodywork type/manufacturer of the bodywork.
Refer to the body makers instructions.

Remove the housings (1)

Wash the housings with diesel oil.

Remove the filter elements

If water is detected or if the removed filter elements are too dirty, this will be indication that the fuel is contaminated, and in this case the new filter elements will get clogged again in short time. Should this occur, an internal cleaning of the fuel reservoirs will be required.

When installing, replace the filter elements, the sealing rings located in the filter head and the copper rings of the screw (2).

On engines with vent-less filter, loosen the pump gallery outlet plug approximately 1/2 turn.

Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Actuate and check the leak tightness of the fuel system

Do not crank the starter continuously for more than 30 seconds. If the engine does not fire within this interval, wait approximately 1 minute to crank it again.
