| Check | ||
1 | Turn the ignition key to the ON position, without running the engine | If the hydraulic steering fluid is cold, run the engine at idle speed and turn the steering several time to both sides, to heat the fluid. Then, stop the engine and keep the ignition key ON.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
2 | Starting the engine | ||
3 | Check the fluid level trough the translucent reservoir | If the steering system is correctly refueled, the fluid level with the engine running, at idle speed, must be located withing the max. and min (2) reference for the fluid level hot.
If you cannot see fluid level through the translucent reservoir, use dipstick (4). The fluid level must be within the range of level (b) of the dipstick.
4 | Refuel the hydraulic steering reservoir, if necessary | The fluid level must not exceed the indication of maximum level .
5 | Stop the engine | With the engine OFF, the oil level must increase from 1 to 2 cm beyond the max. level reference mark. |
