1 | Park the vehicle in a leveled floor and apply the parking brake | The correct oil level in the automatic gearbox is of fundamental importance, as excess oil and insufficient oil are prejudicial and compromise its operation. | |
Cold oil level check (oil temperature in the automatic gearbox at 30 °C) | |||
2 | Put the shifting gear in neutral (N) position | ||
3 | Run engine on idle speed from 3 to 5 minutes | ||
4 | Clean around the filling pipe end (2) | ||

If the level is within the range (A) for checking at cold, the level is satisfactory | |||

Should this not occur, add oil through the filler neck (2) or drain oil through the oil drain plug (3) on the automatic gearbox case until the level reaches the top limit of the range (A). | |||
Oil level check with hot oil (80 - 95 °C) | |||
6 | Park the vehicle in a leveled floor and apply the parking brake | ||

8 | Run the engine at idling speed (for approximately 2 minutes) | ||

If the level is within the range (B) for checking at hot, the level is satisfactory | |||

11 | Checking the oil level with stopped engine | This measuring possibility is valid only for gearboxes heat exchanger coupled directly to the gearbox or for gearboxes where the heat exchanger is situated below the same gearbox. | |
This procedure has to be carried out with the oil heated, between 5 minutes and 2 hours after engine shutdown. | |||
12 | Park the vehicle in a leveled floor and apply the parking brake | ||
13 | Remove and wipe the dipstick (1) and check the automatic gearbox oil level | It is absolutely necessary that the oil poured into the automatic gearbox is free of impurities. The containers, fillers etc. must be clean and free of water. Place the dipstick (1) on a clean surface while filling the automatic gearbox. | |

If the level is within the range (C) of oil level check with the engine stopped, the level will be satisfactory. | |||

Should this not occur , make a new measuring with the engine running and correct if necessary. |
