Notes on identification
The DSV engine control module and the RFL control module are assigned to each other by a fixed identification code. This identification cannot be erased (HHT actual values, "DSV" menu item 3). It is therefore not possible to replace the DSV or RFL control modules with parts from another vehicle.
If a new DSV engine control module is installed, an initial identification of the DSV control module and the RFL control module must be performed using the HHT before starting the vehicle.
If the engine control module stays in the vehicle, the identification must be locked.
After initial identification has been successfully completed with the HHT, all other identifications (engine start request) are carried out automatically.
If the injection pump needs to be adjusted (E-pump removed), the DSV engine control module must be unscrewed and removed.
If a new DSV engine control module is installed for testing purposes, it must be identified but not locked. If the DSV engine control module remains in the vehicle, the identification is retained but the data is overwritten by the next identification procedure.
If an engine control module is not locked, a maximum of 40 starts or ignition ON/OFF can be performed, since otherwise the control modules will be locked to each other.
The identification procedure is displayed in the HHT display after selecting menu item 4 in the functions menu.
The chassis number is stored in the engine control module so that the DSV engine control module can be assigned to a certain vehicle.
