General information
The various input conditions of the PSM control unit can be set to Yes (Y) or No (N) according to the version required. The function at the control unit output is executed only if all conditions set to (Y) at the control unit input are satisfied depending on the corresponding logical links.
Function:
Equation 100 can be used to request an external engine start via switches on the PSM control unit, via the body electronics or via the trailer electronics.
Input:
010 Engine start (pin X2 18/7, pin X2 18/10)
The PSM control unit receives the signal for the engine start via a switch at the monitored inputs (pin X2 18/7 and pin X2 18/10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
020 Engine start (pin X2 18/14)
Via a switch at the input (pin X2 18/14) the PSM control unit receives the signal for the engine start.
The input pin X2 18/14 cannot be monitored; the information at the input is made available without checking.
030 Engine start (AUF)
Request for engine start via the body electronics.
040 Engine start (ANH)
Request for engine start via the trailer electronics.
050 Engine start until engine runs
A parameter can be set to determine whether one of the engine start inputs must be actuated continuously until the engine is running, or whether a short pulse is sufficient to start the engine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
060 Single test of input conditions
All input conditions are tested once only.
Following this only the start inputs (parameter 010-040).
In order to prevent undervoltage problems occurring when starting the engine, the input conditions applying at that particular time are internally maintained upon the engine start switch being actuated.
The input conditions are not read in again until after the switch has been released.
070 Neutral position
The vehicle CAN bus informs the PSM control unit that the transmission is in neutral.
If the signal is not present at the vehicle CAN bus or not available, an engine start is not conducted.
080 Parking brake
Over the FCAN bus the PSM control unit receives the information "Parking brake applied".
If the signal is not present at the vehicle CAN bus or not available, an engine start is not conducted.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
090 Parking brake (pin X4 18/5, pin X4 18/8)
The PSM control unit receives the signal about the position of the parking brake lever (parking brake applied) via the monitored inputs (pin X4 18/5 and pin X4 18/8).
If the signal is not present or not available, no engine start is performed.
100 Starter lockout not activated (pin X2 18/9, pin X2 18/12)
The PSM control unit receives the signal about the status of the starter lock-out via the monitored inputs (pin X2 18/9 and pin X2 18/12). The starter lock-out must not be actuated if the function is to be executed.
110 Start interlock not activated (AUF)
If the starter lock-out is activated via the body electronics, no engine start is performed.
120 Start interlock not activated (ANH)
If the starter lock-out is activated via the trailer electronics, no engine start is performed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
130 PTO 1 not engaged
If PTO 1 is engaged, no engine start is performed.
PSM internal data.
140 PTO 2 not engaged
If PTO 2 is engaged, no engine start is performed.
PSM internal data.
150 PTO 3 not engaged
If PTO 3 is engaged, no engine start is performed.
PSM internal data.
Output:
500 Output of engine start
If the input conditions are satisfied, the engine is started over the vehicle CAN bus.
510 Clutch open
"Clutch open" can be evaluated as an additional condition for the engine start.
520 Clutch actuation (EAS)
Clutch actuation (EAS) is requested over the vehicle CAN bus.
In vehicles with EAS only
Clutch actuation is canceled again as soon as the engine is running.
530 Clutch pedal interlock
Only on vehicles with GS.
The clutch pedal is locked via the output pin X4 18/11
540 Clutch actuation
Only on vehicles with GS.
The clutch is opened via output pin X4 18/12
For this purpose a
550 Delay time until clutch actuation
can be parameterized.
Clutch actuation is canceled again as soon as the engine starts to run.
The clutch pedal lock is deactivated after the clutch is closed, or 5 s after cancelation of clutch actuation (on vehicles without information on the clutch status e.g. model 970, 972, 974, 975, 976).
