Check

Check whether the service measure "Remove carrier plates with drive units of automatic tire chains" has been performed.

 The carrier plates (3) with drive units (4) are now in stock.

If the service measure has been carried out,



Continue with operation step 2.

If the service measure has not been carried out,



First perform the service measure "Remove carrier plates with drive units of automatic tire chains", carrying out only the relevant operation steps if reinstallation is performed immediately,

and continue with operation step 7.



Install

Drain auxiliary consumer circuit of compressed-air system.

Remove plug on connecting point for compressed-air line (6) in auxiliary consumer circuit.

Remove stop plug or adhesive tape from compressed-air line (6).

Route compressed-air line (6) to connecting point in auxiliary consumer circuit and connect.

Remove stop plugs or adhesive tape from compressed-air lines (7) to drive unit (4).

 On both sides of the vehicle.

Secure vehicle at front axle using chocks to prevent it from rolling away.

Raise vehicle at rear axle and jack up at vehicle frame.

This should only be done if otherwise the tool cannot be fitted when removing the old nuts from the spring U-bolts (1) or when installing the adapters (2) and the new nuts (11).

Remove all old nuts from both spring U-bolts (1).

 Perform operation steps 9 to 14 on both sides of the vehicle.
With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.

Install the three adapter (2) and one new nut (11) on the two spring U-bolts (1).

Install carrier plate (3) together with attached drive unit (4) and measure distance (a) between drive unit (4) and the ground.

 Fit the new nuts (9) but do not tighten.

If the distance (a) is not correct,



Modify attachment of bracket (10) on carrier plate (3).

Tighten new nuts (9).

Route compressed-air lines (7) to drive unit (4) and fasten with cable ties to bracket (8) and adapters (2).

Connect compressed-air line (7) to drive unit (4).

 Observe markings.

Start engine and completely fill compressed-air system at idle speed.

Switch off engine.

Check connections of compressed-air line (6) in auxiliary consumer circuit of compressed-air lines (7) to both drive units (4) for leaktightness.
