Replace wheel hubs on front and trailing axles



When replacing the wheel hubs the following is to be observed in the repair instructions SM33.20-W-0003A and SM35.50-W-0005A:

 Pull off wheel hub. The tapered roller bearings, cassette-type and piston-ring-type oil seals are left in place.

 Remove rust on contact surfaces of steering knuckle.

 Clean and remove any grease on the bearing seat on the axle journal and bearing inner race seat.

 Pull on new wheel hub

 The wheel hub is preassembled and the tapered roller bearings are greased.

 Use new wheel hub covers with seals and bolts from the "Wheel hub set" delivery specification.

C A U T I O N: In order to prevent any bottlenecks arising, the axle model of the affected vehicle is to be ascertained prior to ordering any parts for the front axle.

 Handling the removed wheel hubs

In Europe:

The removed wheel hubs are to be returned as follows:

The following details are to be entered on the data label (part of delivery specification for new wheel hubs):

 vehicle identification number,

 mileage,

 tire size,

 rim type,

 wheel hub installation position.
