Important additional operations when replacing
Here we expressly point out that when replacing exhaust aftertreatment units it is essential to perform a number of additional operations apart from the purely mechanical operations. These include:
Updating the documentation
Linking (re-locating) the exhaust aftertreatment (ACM) control unit to the exhaust aftertreatment unit
Updating the software release on the ACM control unit
Performing the teach-in process at the ACM control unit
If these operations are not conducted in the scheduled manner, problems will unavoidably occur.
Different generations of exhaust aftertreatment units on engines with the Euro VI standard
It is now the case that various generations of exhaust aftertreatment units are installed in the shipped major assemblies with the Euro VI standard engine version. As a result, different requirements must be observed if a generation I exhaust aftertreatment unit is replaced by a generation II unit. In this case, it is essential to, for example, set various control codes so that the correct data record can be assigned if the software of the ACM control unit is updated at a later stage.
New and revised work instructions
To provide clarity with regard to the procedure for replacing exhaust aftertreatment units (regardless of whether the engine has the Euro V standard or Euro VI standard), we have completely rewritten or revised the work instructions concerning the removal, installation and replacement of the exhaust aftertreatment unit.
New code for vehicles with Euro VI standard
As from 01.07.2015, an additional engine with the Euro VI standard will be available. The designation is: With engine version Euro VI standard, Version 2. The procedure for replacing exhaust aftertreatment units in these engines deviates from the previous one. We will inform you of this in good time.
