5 | Disconnect electrical connections (6, 7, 8, 9).
6 | Remove exhaust flex pipe (5).
7 | Remove mounting plates over the carriers (17, 18). | Bolt, mounting plate to exhaust aftertreatment unit carrier
8 | Raise exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1) by about 5 cm, then pull outwards and remove with the aid of a pallet forklift.
9 | Determine design level of the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1). | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
The design of EATUs (1) was changed which lead to the situation for replacement of EATUs (1) that different measures will have to be observed for different generations.
10 | Remove heat shields (15, 16). | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
11 | Remove exhaust baffle plate (14) from the tailpipe (13) and from the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1). | Only when replace an exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1) with an exhaust baffle plate (14).
12 | Remove components of the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1). | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
| Exhaust aftertreatment unit, modified | ||
| |||
Some assembly parts are reused for replacing the EATU (1). This must be removed and attached together with the new parts to the new EATU (1), see Figure (A, B).

14 | Update Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc). | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
VeDoc must always have been updated prior to the following operation steps. For workshops without VeDoc change authorization a form should be attached in the respective work instructions for this purpose.
15 | Connect vehicle diagnosis system, start diagnosis, and switch on ignition. | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
See information from body manufacturer.
16 | "Re-attach" exhaust gas aftertreatment control unit (ACM (19) or have it connected to the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1). | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
| Notes on: Linking exhaust aftertreatment (ACM) control unit and exhaust aftertreatment unit, form | ||
| |||
To do this the filled out form must be scanned in and sent as an attached file together with an XSF ticket to the central VeDoc team.
17 | Updating software release in exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM) (19) | Only when replacing the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).
| |||
