For the above-mentioned vehicle, a proper diagnosis must be conducted before replacing the alternator.
With immediate effect a TIPS case is to be created before replacing the alternator.

Approval for alternator delivery takes place through this TIPS case.
The following data are required:
Customer complaint - Message in instrument cluster
Brief entry test
Control unit log for ME-SFI [ME] control unit
Result of alternator test DAS/ HMS
Quick test after check

For undervoltage faults the on-board electrical system battery and starter battery have to be tested or recharged as per
SI54.10-P-0003A and the fault memory deleted.
Then the alternator is to be checked as per SI15.40-P-0003A.
For vehicles with ME 2.7.1 a guided alternator diagnosis is not available in the DAS, the test has to be conducted using the "HMS" test equipment.
Record the voltage, amperage and alternator load in neutral and at 1700 rpm.
After testing the alternator a quick test is to be conducted again.

The removed alternators are to be returned as per the remanufactured parts process. To avoid damage during the return delivery, the removed part is to be shipped in the original packaging. Markets which are not integrated into the return delivery process will be notified about the return delivery through the TIPS case.
