New structure of the operation numbers for diagnosis jobs in Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles

For the "Standard Repair Times" in the diagnosis activity was defined as a new assembly of operation numbers.

Next we inform the composition and the utilization of the assembly of work positions (PT’s) for the diagnosis jobs. The assembly of work positions is to be utilized in the activities of diagnose.

These work positions (PT) are summarized in the respective groups of construction, in the interval of XX-0640 up to XX-0999 (see table below), after the quick test the work positions (PT’s) referring to the system to be diagnosed are in the respective construction group.

Generally, in the entry of the diagnosis, the work position (PT) "54-1011 Quick test carry out" is to be used. After the quick test, the tests of the system are mentioned for each construction group.



The diagnosis structure resulting in the quick test depends if a fault code has been recorded for the customer's complaint. This must be taken into consideration in the preparation of the warranty claim (SG).

In principle, the following application rule is valid for the necessary test jobs:

1 Utilization of the PT with final "0" (for ex.; XX-0640, XX-0660, XX-0700...), when:

- no fault code was recorded, however, there is a customer complaint and other test jobs are required.

2 Utilization of the PT with final "1" (for ex.; XX-0641, XX-0661, XX-0701...), when:

- one fault code was recorded.

3 Combined utilization of the PT, for ex.; XX-0640 and XX-0641, is only permissible in justified cases. The justification must be recorded in the communication field “description of fault cause” of the SG, otherwise the work position can be refused.

On the engine referring themes, was defined in the PT 07-0641 “Individual engine parts:............... check as per fault code” 0.2h for the tests isolated from the following components:

 Coolant temperature sensor, check.

 Intake air temperature sensor, check.

 Charge air temperature sensor, check.

 Air volume meter, check.

 Disconnection of the intake runner, check.

 Flow volume of the injectors, check.

 Oil sensor, check.

 Pressure sensor of the intake manifold, check.

Diagnosis jobs

For the telematics diagnosis jobs, the following numbers of operations and "standard" texts were created:

82-0702 Radio and TV, check.

82-0703 Screen, check.

82-0704 CD-player, CD-changer and CC driver, check.

82-0705 Navigation system, check.

82-0706 Telephone/cell phone, check.

82-0707 Fiber optics and the Wake-up signal, check

82-0708 Antennas, check.

The mentioned PT’s replace the PT 82-0700 "Communication systems, check (after quick test)".

Telematics diagnosis jobs, that are not listed above, are to be carried out with the PT’s 82-0700 and 82-0701.

The same way, in all other construction groups, are represented, the structure and the diagnosis process for the control modules with fault codes.

The PT’s 54-1010 "Electric system check, determine diagnosis or 82-1015 "diagnosis of faults in the electric wiring, determine" are available for the diagnosis jobs, when there is no special diagnosis PT within the construction group in question. A combination of this PT with test positions of the described diagnosis structure is not permissible.

The jobs of removing and installing continue included in the respective construction groups, they are not considered in the diagnosis jobs.

The following work positions were eliminated:

07-8820 Engine control module, install software.

54-1035 Control module, recode (after checking).

54-1036 Complement for recoding control module, in the manual data transmission.

To enable an unmistakable attribution to the corresponding system, it is necessary to indicate in the text, the control module with its designation.
