DBW 2010 heater unit

1 Plug connection

disconnect, connect.

2 Clamp

loosen, tighten.

3 Clamp

loosen, tighten.

4 Coolant hose

remove, install.

5 Coolant hose

remove, install.

6 Hexagon nuts

unscrew, screw on.

7 Circlip

remove, install.

8 Washer

remove, install.

9 Bracket with circulation pump

remove, install.

10 Circulation pump

remove, install.

11 Rubber buffer

check, replace.

Note

- Disconnect battery.

- Drain coolant or pinch off coolant hoses.

- Remove parts in numerical order.

Installation note

Bleed coolant circuit (83-6022/4).

DBW 2012 heater unit

1 Plug connection

disconnect, connect.

2 Clamp

loosen, tighten.

3 Clamp

loosen, tighten.

4 Coolant hose

remove, install.

5 Coolant hose

remove, install.

6 Screw

unscrew, screw in.

7 Washer

remove, install.

8 Bracket with circulation pump

remove, install.

9 Circulation pump

remove, install.

Note

- Disconnect battery.

- Drain coolant or pinch off coolant hoses.

- Remove parts in numerical order.

Note

Remove parts in numerical order.

Check all parts for wear and replace if necessary.

Bleeding coolant circuit

1 Set the vehicle heating system to hot and pour in coolant.

Note

For total capacities of cooling system with heater and mixture ratio of corrosion/anti-freeze agent and water, refer to Specifications for service products, sheet 310; 325.0.

2 Allow vehicle engine to warm up until the radiator thermostat has opened.

3 Switch off vehicle engine and check coolant level, top up coolant if required.

4 To bleed the heater circuit, switch on the heater unit for 15 - 20 seconds whilst the circulation pump bleeds the heater circuit in run-on mode. If required, repeat the process.

5 Replenish any missing coolant.

6 Switch on the heater unit and the vehicle heater blower when the vehicle engine is switched off. After the coolant has cooled down, the heater unit must switch on and regulate automatically.

Note

If, after the coolant is cooled down, the system does not switch on again, the thermal fuse or the thermal cut-out has triggered, because the heater has not been bled satisfactorily. In this case, replace thermal fuse or press button on thermal cut-out. Then repeat the complete bleeding process.
