1 Timing case cover

assembly bar 403 589 05 63 00.

2 Gasket

replace, hand-held gun 000 589 01 25 00.

Note

- Remove grease from both corners between crankcase contact surface and injection pump flange gasket and seal with silicone sealant.

- Seal contact surface between crankcase and right and left timing case with silicone sealant.

3 Hexagon bolt

25 Nm.

4 Spring washer

Special tools

Sealing

1 Remove attached parts (depending on engine type, lines, wiring, fuel filter, manifold for turbocharger) at timing case cover.

2 Detach timing case cover (1) and remove gasket.

3 Clean timing case cover and insert new gasket (2).

4 Clean sealing surfaces on crankcase and on timing case.

5 Remove grease on both corners (arrows) between crankcase contact surface and gasket of injection pump flange and seal with silicone sealant.

6 Seal contact surface between crankcase and right and left timing case with silicone sealant.

7 Fit on timing case cover and fix in position with assembly bar (arrow).

8 Tighten hexagon bolts in the sequence stated, 25 Nm.
