Rear window heater
The rear window heater is activated/deactivated via the rear window heater buttons (S98s1, S98/1s7) on the air conditioning system operating unit (without code HH4 (THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control)) or the automatic climate control operating unit (with code HH4 (THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control)).
In vehicles without air conditioning system, the rear window heater is controlled via the rear window heater button (S98s1).
The respective operating unit transmits the rear window heater actuation request via the air conditioning control LIN 1 to the climate control unit.
The climate control unit then transmits the request:
For vehicles without code FX9 (KEYLESS-GO) via the vehicle CAN, central gateway (CGW) and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit.
For vehicles with code FX9 (KEYLESS-GO) via the direct line to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
The instrument cluster (IC) control unit or the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit transmits the request via the vehicle CAN to the fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit.
The rear window heater is then directly actuated via the relay integrated in the fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit.
The fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit also transmits an actuation signal to the climate control unit.
The climate control unit transmits the actuation signal and the indicator lamp actuation request in the rear window heater button via the air conditioning control LIN 1 to the respective operating unit.
The rear window heater function is terminated when the rear window heater button is pressed again. At the same time, the indicator lamp in the rear window heater button goes out.
After approx. 15 min, the instrument cluster (IC) control unit or the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit deactivates the rear window heater function, if this has not already been manually deactivated.
