Common rail diesel injection (CDI) smooth running control, general

The smooth running control reduces any rough running occurring in idle.

Function sequence

To do this the CDI control unit (N3/9) reads in the crankshaft Hall sensor (B70). The CDI control unit evaluates the signal from the crankshaft Hall sensor for its uniformity.

If irregularities occur in the signal from the crankshaft Hall sensor, the CDI control unit adjusts the injection time by cylinder-specific actuation of the fuel injectors (Y76) and thus sets the required injection quantity.
