Task

To keep idle speed at the specified rpm regardless of engine load.

Function

The DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8) computes the engine speed using the signal delivered by the crankshaft position sensor (L5/6), and coolant temperature from the signal sent by the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4).

It then compares actual values to specifications and adjusts idle speed as required by alternately actuating the supply valve (Y23/2y4) and the check valve (Y23/2y2). In the event that the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) fails, the fuel temperature sensor (Y23/2b1) will deliver a substitute signal.
