Remove/install front bumper

Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Turn key in ignition lock to position "0"

Raise vehicle with vehicle lift

Loosen front fender liner on front fender in area of bumper (1)

Remove bolts (1a) on left and right

Pry out left and right air grille (2) with  assembly wedge



Pull outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) out of right air grille (2)

Remove bolt (1b) on left and right

Pry out left and right cover (3) with  assembly wedge

Vehicles without code 494 USA version

Pry out left, right front side-marker lamp  (E6/1, E6/2) with  assembly wedge, release and disconnect electrical connectors

Vehicles with code 494, USA version

Remove bolts (1c) on left and right

Remove bolts (4a) from radiator grille (4)

Remove bolts (1d)

Slightly pull left and right front fender toward outside in area of headlamps (arrow) and remove bumper (1)

 Remove bumper (1) with aid of helper to prevent damage and lay down on padded base!

Remove reusable components from bumper (1)

When replacing bumper (1)

Install in the reverse order



Checking

Check gap dimensions on bumper (1) with  feeler gauge; adjust if required

Check left and right front side-marker lamp  (E6/1, E6/2) for proper function
