Remove/install

Open engine hood (1) and secure against falling down.

Remove expansion clip (14) from radiator grille (3)

On vehicles as of 3.6.08 or code (809) Model year 2009

Unscrew bolts (2) from radiator grille (3)

Raise vehicle

Unscrew bolts (6) from front bumper (5)

 On vehicles as of 3.6.08 or code (809) Model year 2009, only the three center bolts (6) are installed.

Remove expansion clips (7) from front bumper (5)

 Installation: Check expansion clips (7), replace if necessary.

Unscrew bolts (9) from front bumper (5) on front fender (10)

 It is not necessary to remove wheels

Remove expansion clips (8) from front fender liner (13)

 Turn wheels in corresponding direction to facilitate access

 Installation: Check expansion clips (8), replace if necessary.

Pry front fender liner (13) out of front bumper (5)

 Turn wheels in corresponding direction to facilitate access

Pull outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) out of front bumper (5)

Disconnect PTS, front bumper connector (X26/27)

With code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or code (235) Active Parking Assist

 Installation: Ensure that PTS, front bumper connector (X26/27) is seated correctly.

Disconnect electrical connector from left front fog lamp (E5/1) and right front fog lamp (E5/2)

With code (U37) Front fog lamp

 Installation: Ensure that electrical connectors are seated correctly

Pull front bumper (5) out of side guides (12) and remove with aid of helper

 Installation: Guide safety hook (4) into radiator grille (3).

Guide front bumper (5) into pins (11) on front fender (10).

Disassemble front bumper (5) and assemble

When replacing front bumper (5).

Check Parktronic system (PTS) for proper function

 Switch off ignition, PTS control unit performs self-test automatically

Check adjustment of left fog lamp (E5/1) and right fog lamp (E5/2)

With code (U37) Front fog lamp

Check and correct the adjustment of the headlamps
