Remove/install

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).

Discharge air conditioning system.

Drain off coolant.

Remove coolant hose (12).

Remove low-temperature circuit coolant expansion reservoir (1).

Unclip retaining clip (2) from major assembly carrier.

Remove screw (3), remove bracket (4) from major assembly carrier and place to one side.

Remove screws (5, 6) and remove bracket (7).

Slacken poly-V-belt and remove from refrigerant compressor (A9).

Remove screws (8), pull refrigerant lines (9) out of refrigerant compressor (A9) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.



Compressor oils (specification 362.1)

 Installation: Replace sealing rings of refrigerant lines and moisten with compressor oil.

Release and disconnect electrical connector (10) of refrigerant compressor (A9).

Remove screws (11) and remove refrigerant compressor (A9) upwards out of engine compartment.

Replace drier cartridge.

If one of the following conditions is fulfilled: The vehicle is older than 5 years, the refrigerant is dirt-laden (dark gray to black color), the refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) is blocked, the refrigerant circuit was damaged (e.g. after an accident).

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
