Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on sealed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.

 Installation: Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for leaks and proper operation.

Slacken poly V-belt

 Only remove poly-V belt from belt pulley of refrigerant compressor (A9). See: 

Disconnect electrical connector (1)

Remove bolt (2) from low-pressure line (3)



Remove low-pressure line (3) from refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Installation: Renew sealing ring of low-pressure line (3) and wet with compressor oil.

Close opening of low-pressure line (3) and opening of refrigerant compressor (A9) using suitable stop plugs

 The opening of the low-pressure line (3) and the opening on the refrigerant compressor (A9) must be sealed, as otherwise any penetrating dirt and moisture can damage components connected to the refrigerant circuit.

Remove bolt (4) from high pressure line (5)



Remove high pressure line (5) from refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Installation: Renew sealing ring of high-pressure line (5) and wet with compressor oil.

Close opening of high pressure line (5) and opening of refrigerant compressor (A9) using suitable stop plugs

 The opening of the high-pressure line (5) and the opening on the refrigerant compressor (A9) must be sealed, as otherwise any penetrating dirt and moisture can damage components connected to the refrigerant circuit.

Remove bolt (6)

Loosen bolt (11) on bracket (12)

Unscrew screws (7) from refrigerant compressor (A9)

 The bolts (7) remain on the refrigerant compressor (A9).



Unscrew bolts (8) from refrigerant compressor (A9) and remove refrigerant compressor (A9) until the bracket (9) of the electric wiring harness (10) is accessible

 Installation: On engine 640.9, align bracket (12) and insert left bolt (8).



Loosen electric wiring harness (10) from bracket (9) and remove bolts (7)

Remove refrigerant compressor (A9)

Install in the reverse order

Perform run-in of the refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Menu option Control unit adaptations.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
