 Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.

Drain air conditioning (recycle)

 Refill compressor oil evacuated back into refrigerant circuit when charging air conditioning
 Installation: Evacuate, fill air conditioning, check for leakage.

Before filling the air conditioning system:

Replace fluid reservoir

  Observe the refill oil quantity when replacing the fluid reservoir.

Remove poly-V belt

 Only remove the poly-V belt from the refrigerant compressor (A9).

Remove suction and pressure line (2, 5) from refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Plug pressure lines

Installation: Replace sealing rings (3, 7) and moisten with compressor oil when inserting.



Separate connector (11)

Remove bracket (10) on refrigerant compressor (A9) and on the oil pan

Remove refrigerant compressor (A9) from support

Remove refrigerant compressor (A9)

  Observe refill oil quantity when replacing the refrigerant compressor:

  Observe refrigerant compressor oil capacity.

Install in the reverse order

 If the AC compressor has been replaced because of damage caused by an internal fault:

 Replace suction and pressure lines (2, 5) with sealing rings:

Replace expansion valve

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Switch on the air conditioner and allow the engine to idle for roughly 4 minutes.

 Dial temperature selector wheel down to the minimum setting (blue),

blower switch to max.

Check air conditioning for proper operation

 Air outlet temperature at center nozzle must not drop below +5 °C, if necessary: 

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system

Inspect the air conditioning circuit for leaks
