Modification notes
Evacuating | |||
Danger! | Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.
| Notes on handling refrigerant R134a | Air conditioning with refrigerant R134a | |
1 | Open electromagnetic shutoff valve | Open manually
Open electrically | |||
2 | Unscrew protective caps from the pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and from the suction-side testing and filling valve (3)
3 | Connect pressure and suction line of the air conditioning extraction and recycling unit to the pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and to the suction-side testing and filling valve (3) | Refer to the operating instructions for the air conditioning extraction and recycling unit.
| |||
4 | Unscrew protective cap from the suction-side shutoff valve (4)
5 | Screw in suction-side shutoff valve (4) approx. 3 turns
6 | Switch on air conditioning extraction and recycling unit | Refer to the operating instructions for the air conditioning extraction and recycling unit.
7 | Evacuate air conditioning using the pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and the suction-side testing and filling valve (3) | Evacuate air conditioning circuit up to the maximum attainable vacuum, but for at least 1 hour. If moisture has penetrated into the air conditioning circuit, evacuation must be continued for at least 8 hours.
Leak test | |||
8 | Switch off air conditioning extraction and recycling unit | Close the valves at the pressure gauge of the air conditioning extraction and recycling unit. This prevents the result of the leak test from being distorted.
9 | Read off vacuum display on the pressure gauge of the air conditioning extraction and recycling unit | Note vacuum pressure value
10 | After waiting for 10 minutes, read off vacuum display on the pressure gauge again | Compare current vacuum value to the recorded vacuum value. If there is a drop in the vacuum:
Fill air conditioning without leak test After filling the air conditioning system, check for leaky areas:
Inspect the refrigeration circuit for leaks. Before repairing leaky area empty air conditioning system:
Discharge air conditioning system Carry out a leak test again after the repair work. Repeat steps 1 to 10 for this purpose.
11 | Fill air conditioning system | Evacuate and do not carry out leak test. |
