Removing, installing

Danger!

Risk of explosion from welding or braizing work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.

Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or naked flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Do not carry out repair work on the circuit of the air conditioning system unless the system is drained.

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you place your hand into the engine when it is started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off by itself.
Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.

Remove electromagnetic clutch

Remove dust seal (1)

Remove circlip (2)

 Observe installation position

Pull off pressure plate (3)

Installation: Replace pressure plate (3) and sealing ring (4).

Pull shaft sealing ring (5) from compressor shaft

Installation: Replace shaft sealing ring (5).

Install in the reverse order



Inspecting

Evacuate air conditioning system, leak test

Fill air conditioning system, replenish (gaseous)

Fill air conditioning system (liquid)

Check air conditioning for proper function

 Run engine at idling speed for about 5 minutes and check all the component functions which are of relevance for proper operation of the air conditioning system.

Carry out brief check of air conditioning system
